Best Hotels Near Wrigley Field in Chicago

Wrigley Field is one of the rare major-league ballparks where staying nearby means putting yourself in the middle of a real Chicago neighborhood rather than a stadium district built around parking lots.

The ballpark sits at 1060 W. Addison Street on Chicago's North Side, surrounded by Wrigleyville and Lakeview. Wrigley Field has been home to the Cubs since 1916, took its current name in 1926 and today has a listed capacity of 41,649.

For a baseball weekend, we'd usually choose one of two strategies: stay within walking distance and immerse yourself in Wrigleyville, or stay beside a Red Line station and use Chicago's transit system to explore more of the city.

Here are the hotels we'd consider first.

Hotel Zachary: Best Hotel for Wrigley Field

If the Cubs game is the centerpiece of the trip, Hotel Zachary is the obvious place to start.

The boutique hotel sits directly across the street from Wrigley Field in the heart of Wrigleyville. Its design was inspired by Zachary Taylor Davis, the Chicago architect behind the original ballpark, and many of its suites have views of Wrigley Field.

The location is the real selling point. You're already in the neighborhood before the game begins and don't need to think about trains, rideshares or parking when thousands of fans arrive.

It also works well for travelers who want Wrigleyville itself to be part of the trip rather than simply somewhere they visit for nine innings.

Best for: First-time visitors, couples and travelers who want maximum ballpark convenience.

Majestic Hotel Chicago: Best Boutique Alternative

The Majestic Hotel gives you a quieter version of a Wrigley Field weekend.

Located at 528 W. Brompton Avenue in Lakeview East, the 52-room boutique hotel describes itself as about a 10-minute walk from both Wrigley Field and Lake Michigan. Its guestrooms were recently renovated, with the work completed in spring 2025.

That location is particularly appealing if you like being close to the game without sleeping directly in the busiest part of Wrigleyville.

You're also well positioned for a morning walk or run along the lakefront before heading toward the ballpark.

Best for: Couples, quieter stays and travelers who want both Wrigley Field and the lakefront.

Best Western Plus Hawthorne Terrace: Best for Free Breakfast

Best Western Plus Hawthorne Terrace Hotel sits on Broadway in Lakeview, a few blocks from Wrigley Field.

The hotel includes complimentary breakfast and puts guests near both Wrigleyville and the lakefront parks and trails.

That makes it an especially practical choice for families. Breakfast is handled before the day's sightseeing begins, while the neighborhood location gives you options beyond the stadium.

It's also a good reminder that you don't have to stay directly across Addison Street to have an easy Wrigley weekend.

Best for: Families and travelers who value included breakfast.

City Suites Hotel: Best for CTA Access

City Suites Hotel offers a slightly different strategy.

The 45-room boutique hotel sits at 933 W. Belmont Avenue, immediately beside Belmont station. That station serves the Red, Brown and Purple lines, giving you excellent access to both Wrigleyville and the rest of Chicago.

Wrigley Field is roughly an 11- to 13-minute walk away, depending on the route.

For us, this is one of the smartest locations on the list for a longer Chicago trip. You can walk to the Cubs game but also have rapid transit essentially outside the hotel when you're heading downtown.

Suites accommodate up to four guests and include separate sitting areas with sofa beds.

Best for: Longer Chicago trips, transit users and small groups.

The Willows Hotel Chicago: Best for Combining Baseball and Lincoln Park

The Willows Hotel is farther south in Lake View East, but that distance comes with a different advantage.

The hotel puts Wrigley Field about one mile away—a roughly 20-minute walk—while Belmont Harbor and the Lakefront Trail are less than half a mile away. Lincoln Park Zoo and Conservatory are also within walking distance.

This isn't the property we'd choose if our only goal were getting as close as possible to the Cubs.

It makes much more sense for a three- or four-night Chicago trip where the baseball game is one part of the itinerary.

Best for: Couples, longer stays and travelers exploring Lincoln Park and the lakefront.

Should You Stay in Wrigleyville or Downtown Chicago?

If you're coming specifically for a Cubs game, we'd stay around Wrigleyville or Lakeview at least once.

There's something different about waking up in the same neighborhood as the ballpark, spending the afternoon around Clark and Addison and walking into Wrigley Field with everyone else.

But downtown still makes sense for a first Chicago vacation where baseball is only one item on a much larger itinerary.

The good news is that you don't need to choose based solely on transportation.

The Cubs recommend public transit for Wrigley Field events, and the CTA Red Line stops directly at Addison beside the stadium.

That makes it easy to stay downtown and take the train north—or stay in Lakeview and take the train downtown.

Do You Need a Car for a Wrigley Field Weekend?

We wouldn't rent one for a short Chicago baseball trip.

The Cubs strongly encourage public transportation for events at Wrigley Field. In addition to the Addison Red Line station, CTA buses 152 and 22 stop at Clark and Addison.

That transit access combines with one of the biggest advantages of staying nearby: Wrigleyville and Lakeview are highly walkable.

A car can become useful if your itinerary extends far outside central Chicago, but for a weekend focused on baseball, restaurants and major city attractions, it can easily become another thing to park.

How Do You Get to Wrigley Field From O'Hare Airport?

Public transit is possible all the way from O'Hare.

The Cubs recommend taking the CTA Blue Line from O'Hare toward Forest Park, exiting at the Blue Line's Addison station and transferring to the eastbound 152 Addison bus, which stops at Wrigley Field.

Another option is taking ground transportation directly to your Lakeview hotel and then leaving the car question behind for the rest of the weekend.

From Midway, the Cubs recommend taking the Orange Line toward the Loop and transferring to the northbound Red Line at Roosevelt for the ride to Addison.

What Else Can You Do Near Wrigley Field?

This is where staying in Lakeview becomes especially attractive.

Lake Michigan and the lakefront are close enough to combine with the game, while neighborhoods around Broadway, Clark Street and Northalsted provide restaurants, bars, shops and entertainment.

Stay farther south at The Willows and Lincoln Park Zoo becomes an easy addition. Stay near Belmont and you gain especially convenient train access to the rest of Chicago.

Wrigley Field itself also hosts concerts and special events beyond baseball, giving these hotels usefulness outside the Cubs' regular season.

When Should You Book a Hotel Near Wrigley Field?

For ordinary regular-season games, we'd book once the dates are firm.

For Opening Day, playoff baseball, rivalry weekends or major concerts, we'd move much earlier.

There simply aren't that many hotels immediately surrounding Wrigley Field, and Hotel Zachary's across-the-street location makes it an especially obvious choice for visitors who want to stay next to the ballpark.

For future trips, a refundable room can be a better strategy than waiting for the closest hotels to become scarce.

For the ultimate Wrigley Field weekend, Hotel Zachary is our first choice. Sleeping across the street from one of baseball's most famous ballparks is hard to top.

For a quieter boutique stay, we'd look at Majestic Hotel Chicago.

Families should compare Best Western Plus Hawthorne Terrace, while travelers who want excellent access to the rest of Chicago should give City Suites Hotel a close look.

And for a longer trip that mixes baseball with the lakefront and Lincoln Park, The Willows Hotel provides a compelling alternative.

Wrigley Field isn't a stadium we'd rush into five minutes before first pitch and immediately leave afterward.

Stay in the neighborhood.

Walk to the park.

And make Wrigleyville part of the trip.
